Fungus is fascinating stuff. It is thought that there are giant fungal mycelium webs covering every inch of every habitable landmass of the face of the earth and that animal and plant life both evolved in symbiosis with the fungi. It is also speculated that fungal spores can even survive the vacuum of space (see: transpermia). Paul Stamets is a mycologist and author of several pretty fascinating books about fungi and their potential uses. Everything from cleaning up the toxins in the environment to biofuels and beyond. I highly recommend checking out his books if you find any of this at all interesting.
So in honor of spring and the arrival of mushroom fruiting season, here's a little Amanita vector.
In continuation with the free Woodland theme vectors, here's a little caterpillar on a leaf. He'll munch away at your leaves, but at least he'll turn into a butterfly eventually. Enjoy!
If you're a recluse living in the northern hemisphere, you may not have realized that spring is upon us! I'm super excited for my part of the world to warm up again so I can spend more time outdoors. In honor of spring, I'll be doing some 'woodland' themed vectors, the first of which you see here. He's an owl. Hoot!
I've been seeing tons of discussion lately about bitcoin, a peer-to-peer digital payment system. I figured these icons might come in handy as more and more websites start to accept bitcoins as payment. Six editable vector icons included!
Today I came across a picture of a hoodie with the "indian with the star" image on it. You know, from the Tootsie Roll Pops wrapper. I remember when I was a kid, the rumor was that if you got a wrapper that had the indian with the star next to it, you could mail it in (somewhere) and get a free Tootsie Pop! So I mention this to Ed, my partner in domesticity, and he said he had never heard of it.
Sure enough, a quick search of the Google tells me that it is just an urban legend. Apparently the Tootsie Roll people have been denying requests from poor kids for free Tootsie Pops since the 1930's! And that brings us to today's vector! Whatever you do, don't try to eat it.
Starting today (April 25th), I am going to attempt to create a new vector every day. My buddy Faust suggested I start with a hand grenade, so here's that. Suggestions for future vectors are welcome, contact me via the contact form!
Added some new stuff to the gallery today. The other day, I had that urge to create but had absolutely no idea what to do with that pent-up energy. I looked around the house and the internet for inspiration, but came up with nothing. So I sat down at my computer, opened up Illustrator, and drew a big navy box. After staring at it for awhile, it made me think of the vast darkness of space. So I decided to draw the solar system. Sorry Pluto, maybe next time.
It is nowhere near spring in Omaha, but I am certainly wishing it was. Download this free vector in .AI format (CS4 or higher)! Free to use in any personal or commercial projects!
To celebrate the launch of my new website, I'm offering this freebie vector download in .AI format (CS4 or higher)! It's a cute little vectorization of a vintage trailer from the mid 20th century. Free to use in any personal or commercial projects!
